💬 Struggling to find the right words…we’ve all been there, right?

Hello Reader,

How do you handle writer's block?

You decide to write, and you sit down to gather your thoughts, and...nothing happens.

The blank page is taunting you.

Daring you to keep silent.

What I've found helpful is to start with copywriting exercises.

A simple prompt that gives you a border to your canvas.

This is good for getting you going - but often, when it's time to write, there's a specific function we are looking to fulfill.

There's an article to write, or a brochure to create, or a sales conversation to begin.

When you have a medium in mind - you're adding content to a sales page, or filling empty space in a sales proposal - I’ve found it helpful to have a reference list, full of my most magnetic messages.

Here are a few that you may have heard me use them before:

  • Marketing makes you visible.
  • Position yourself with messages that matter.
  • Humanize your automated marketing.
  • Marketing makes most of your profit, but it should not take up most of your time.
  • Let’s think together about your success.
  • Marketing is a series of intentional messages.
  • Bad marketing is expensive.
  • This is the hard work that makes marketing easy.

I love having these short phrases available to spice up any document.

Last week I revised my sales proposal template for a new client, and I had a few corners that were…boring. Using these phrases, I filled in the empty spaces with compelling, attractive messages.

By keeping your magnetic messages handy, you can use them frequently.

I spend plenty of time writing in my private workshop, to discover the words that 🧲ATTRACT the people I want to gather. Then, I collect these powerful phrases into a place where I can copy-paste them into:

  • Sales brochures
  • Website pages
  • Newsletter headings
  • Email subject lines
  • Social media posts
  • Podcast interviews
  • Selling conversations

If you want my help in crafting Magnetic Messages that 🧲ATTRACT🧲 your ideal audience, join me for my next Masterclass.

In this live, interactive Zoom workshop, we will do a series of copywriting sprints that help us bust through writer's block, and discover the short, repeatable phrases that declare who you are, what you do, and why you're amazing.

Hello Reader, In 24 hours, I'll be going live with the Authorverse community to teach my newest workshop, '5 Business Models Behind Books.' Here are the 5 books I will be using to illustrate the 5 business models: (Yes, I am using my own book as an example. Teacher's prerogative. 😁) In working with so many experts and entrepreneurs over the past decade, I have been on the back-end of many businesses that rely on a published book as the cornerstone of their positioning. The 5 business models I...

5 business models behind books

Hello Reader, How do authors build a thriving business around their published work? Spoiler alert: it's not by selling more books. In my work over the past decade with authors, coaches, and speakers, I have been behind-the-scenes of multiple 6- and 7-figure businesses. I've seen how their businesses are structured, developed the commercial offers they make to their audience, and learned firsthand what's working, and what's a waste of time. Next week, I'm teaching a free workshop for the...

hero-villain

Hello Reader, In every story, there are three characters: the hero, the villain, and the victim. A century ago, American film was born out of the vaudeville scene. The main storytelling medium at the time was melodrama, when the characters were almost comically basic. Think of the mustachio-twirling villain, tying a damsel in distress to the train tracks, being thwarted by a gun-toting hero, and you have all the basics you need to tell a compelling story: setting, conflict, and characters....
