[Announcement] I am pivoting to GenAI

Hello Reader,

This year, I’m pivoting my business to teaching Generative AI.

Training knowledge workers on how to use these new AI tools is a massive opportunity, and there is a lot of demand for it.

  • According to KPMG, 70% of CEOs say that AI is their #1 investment priority.
  • A survey across 16 countries found that GenAI training is the top request by employees, but only 39% of workers had received any training.
  • The Future of Jobs Report for 2025 predicts 92 million jobs will be displaced by AI, but it will create 170 million jobs, for a net gain of 78 million jobs.
“The best way to drive AI adoption is by marrying domain knowledge with foundational AI training. Generalist skills, creativity, and technical integration are more critical than deep specialization in today’s AI-driven world.”
- Bhavesh Dayali, Chief AI Officer, S&P Global

Marketing is being disrupted by AI, and there are a lot of out-of-work marketers competing for fewer and fewer gigs. I can see why people are hesitant to invest in marketing - if you can have robots do the same work for a fraction of the cost and time, why pay a human marketer?

But the gap is…how do you replace a marketer, if you don’t know how to use GenAI proficiently yet?

Farmers did not go obsolete with the invention of the tractor, and mathematicians did not disappear after the calculator. But there are fewer of those jobs, and the ones who survive are the ones most adept at using the new tools.

I’m going to start writing to you weekly about these new tools, and provide the same sorts of practical edutainment you’ve seen from me in the past. Expect worksheets and videos you can use to upskill yourself with GenAI, along with a newly rebranded newsletter.

Teaching, creating, and performing is what I most love to do, so pivoting to a teaching-based business model feels right to me. Stay tuned! I’d love to hear your feedback on my progress as I grow.

Right now, I'm most interested to know: how are you using Generative AI in your work? What tools do you like, or what challenges do you face?

Hit reply, I'm all ears.

🤖 "If you don't learn to how to orchestrate agents now, you'll spend 2027 catching up to people who started today.” - Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google Hello Reader, Xero recently published a report comparing how New Zealanders are using AI. They surveyed more than 1000 professionals, and they found that most people are still using AI like a random toolbox. They open ChatGPT, or Copilot, or Claude, or Gemini. They ask a question, get an answer, copy the useful bits, and move on. That’s fine. A...

That was the central theme of last week's workshop in the AI Agent Accelerator, the 4-workshop sprint where we build, deploy, and fine-tune AI agents. Using my 4-step SAGE framework, every week we: SCOPE agentic projects AUTOMATE robotic work GENERATE skills and system prompts EVALUATE effectiveness Projects succeed and fail on their...

💸 "AI Agents are a multi trillion dollar opportunity.” - Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA Hello Reader, AI agents are changing the way work gets done. As agentic AI systems become more capable, our real advantage will not come from technical proficiency. Our advantage will come from knowing how to manage AI agents well. The ability to scope agentic projects, manage autonomous systems, evaluate their performance, and design the information environments that make agents effective - these are the...
